What is Nano CBD?

Nano CBD comes from an emulsion of purified water, long chain triglycerides, emulsifiers, and CBD.  While an emulsion simply refers to a mixture of oil and water, our Nano CBD is made using our proprietary process that uses sound waves to break the particle size of the CBD below 100 nanometers for faster absorption and increased bioavailability (Nano CBD).  This type of product is known as a nanoemulsion, and is used “in diverse areas such as drug delivery, food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and material synthesis”.

Our Nano CBD Oil is a microencapsulated nano emulsion of CBD in purified water.  Being water-based instead of oil-based, it mixes easily with any liquid.  The term “nano” means one one-billionth, and in this case refers to a product in which the CBD oil has been broken into ultra-tiny droplets that are less than 100 nanometers wide.  That is less than 0.0001 millimeter!  By comparison an average human hair is approximately 80,000 nanometers wide.  A piece of paper is about 100,000 nanometers wide [1].

The less than 100 nanometer particle size of our Nano CBD allows for greater bioavailability, meaning the CBD is more efficiently utilized by the body.

We produce our Nano CBD Oil in 2.5% (25 mg/mL) and 5% (50 mg/mL) concentrations, with a particle size of less than 100 nanometers.  These concentrations in our Nano CBD, coupled with the higher bioavailability of the small particle size, are appropriate for many CBD users.  However, some people do prefer an even more potent option to allow a higher amount of Nano CBD Oil per usage, to be able to use less of their chosen CBD product at once, or to get the most cost-effective form of CBD by having the highest concentration per drop as can be found in Nano CBD, making Nano CBD the most effective choice for them.

Why Nano CBD Oil? Size matters.

The ultra-tiny particle size of the CBD in our Nano CBD oil allows easier absorption into the body for higher bioavailability.  This means that more of the CBD consumed actually ends up being utilized by the body.

Why is Nano CBD is better than other forms?

Because CBD is an oil, it is not readily absorbed by the body.  In fact, when CBD is ingested and passes through the digestive system, most of it is destroyed.  A World Health Organization review of CBD studies shows that bioavailability of CBD when taken orally (meaning swallowed and entering digestion) can be as low as 6% [2]. See more about the bioavailability of CBD here: CBD Basics – AerosourceH

Nano CBD’s small particles can be absorbed orally and cross into the bloodstream directly without having to pass through the digestive system.  This means that the majority of the Nano CBD when taken orally is utilized by the body.  Nano CBD that does pass through the digestive system is also destroyed at a much lower rate than others’ oil-based CBD because the system treats it as an emulsified water-based compound.

A 2018 study showed CBD bioavailability of a CBD nanoemulsion to be 65% higher in a rodent model, with the expectation that it would be even higher in humans [3].  Cannabis Law Report states that nanoemulsions “can result in a 200-500% increase in effectiveness over traditional oil-based products”[4].

Because Nano CBD Oil has higher bioavailability, less product can be used to deliver the same effective amount of CBD in your bloodstream.  Using the above range of 200-500% greater effectiveness, this means that a consumer using Nano CBD could use one-half to one-fifth of the amount of an oil-based product.  This translates to a better user experience by needing to use less CBD, or use it less often, and makes the CBD purchase more cost-effective overall.

Different from Nano CBD, Micro CBD is a 10% emulsion in purified water, produced using the same technology as used to make our Nano CBD oil.  Because of the higher concentration of CBD in the formula, the finished particle size is somewhat larger than that of our Nano CBD oil, but is below 200 nanometers.  While there may be some companies marketing products with this particle size as “nano,” we feel it is important to distinguish between our Micro and Nano CBD oil products so our customers know what they are actually getting!!!

While “Li et al62 concluded from their data that the size of 100 nm might be the most suitable size for oral delivery of nanoparticles” [2], it has also been shown in a 2016 study by Banerjee et al. that absorption of nanoparticles “was inversely related to their size, with uptake of 50 nm > 200 nm > 500 nm > 1000 nm” [3].   This means that as the particle size gets smaller, the bioavailability increases.  Micro CBD therefore has a bioavailability advantage over oil-based or other non-emulsified forms of CBD.

Where to buy Nano CBD oil and Micro CBD oil?

Until recently, LifesourceCBD was made just for private clients and the public was unable to acquire our Nano CBD oil or our Micro CBD oil, but now, the public may purchase these outstanding products right here on the website or at select retailers, including the AerosourceH Grow store in Marion, Illinois
